Siliguri, West Bengal · A community seva initiative since 2020

We show up.
Every single day.

Humrahi means fellow traveller: the one who walks beside you, not ahead. On the ground with communities, and building what lets good work last.

On the Ground

Food. Cleanup. Schools. Health. Community.

Since COVID-2020: warm meals daily, cleanup drives, schools adopted, health camps, blood donation. Rain or shine.

Building the Ecosystem

Where sustainable businesses and communities thrive together.

A living network connecting sustainable enterprises, NGOs, and communities across Siliguri, with Humrahi working to keep those connections strong.

Siliguri's First Plogging Event · World Environment Day 2026

100+ volunteers.
One city.
One morning.

On June 5, 2026, Siliguri witnessed its first plogging event — volunteers cleaning railway tracks and road corridors alongside a run.

Bags of collected waste. Hands that didn't stop. Energy no brief could manufacture. This is what community looks like.

The bigger picture

A living ecosystem
for sustainable change

"Lasting change grows from the conditions inside a community — where people, businesses, and purpose find each other and stay."

Humrahi began by feeding people in a crisis. But the crisis revealed something deeper: communities that endure aren't the ones with the most help from outside — they're the ones with an ecosystem around them.

We are building that ecosystem in Siliguri and beyond. A network where sustainable enterprises thrive, support each other, and grow alongside the communities they serve. Where waste becomes livelihood. Where an NGO's reach doubles because someone is working alongside them.

The pieces connect. A warm meal opens the door; a cleanup drive clears the ground; an adopted school keeps a child in class; a health camp keeps a family earning; and a local enterprise turns that momentum into a livelihood that lasts. Each piece makes the next one possible.

Humrahi works at the edges of this network rather than its centre, holding the connections together and staying present, consistent, and accountable.

Sustainable Businesses

We connect businesses operating sustainably to communities and markets that need them.

NGO Collaboration

We add ground presence and community networks to missions other NGOs already lead, so their reach goes further.

Waste Upcycling

Turning waste into value — livelihoods and closing the loop on how communities consume.

Community Infrastructure

Food, schools, health — the foundations without which no ecosystem holds.

Five years, in pictures

Everything we've done,
in motion

Food, blood, schools, a greener city: five years of just turning up. Pick a thread, or watch it all drift by.

The people behind it

Led from the front

Lalan Mahato, Founder of Humrahi Foundation
Leadership

Lalan Mahato

Founder & President

Humrahi Foundation is built on one man's refusal to look away. Lalan Mahato started with food distribution during COVID: a van, a few pairs of hands, and a quiet commitment that no one on his watch would go hungry.

What grew from there came one need at a time. School adoptions, health camps, cleanup drives, blood donation camps, each an answer to something he saw in front of him. He keeps innovation and compassion at the centre of every initiative.

The sustainable ecosystem vision is his next chapter: not growing Humrahi bigger, but making the whole neighbourhood stronger.

A registered board of eight keeps the work running, from secretary and treasurer to the trustees and members who are out at the camps themselves.
